Angel Group is young adult dance group under ICPAI. Tina Magnusson is the leader and instructor of the group, which currently has over ten active members. The Angel group consists mainly of young ladies and young mothers. We meet Wednesday nights weekly at Lakeview Church. We all love traditional Chinese performing arts and wish to introduce Chinese culture to our communities.
Recently, our group performed on the Indy Style program of WISH TV (channel 8), featuring the International Market Place: “Indianapolis Chinese Performing Arts”. We look forward to our upcoming performances at various Chinese New Year celebrations! Andel group's signature program is Long Silk Dance which is a very typical Chinese traditional dance.
NewGen group was founded by Ling Liu in Feb 2013. The group members are mostly high school girls who like to maitain the Chinese heritage, use their spare time to conduct Chinese dances and perform at various event as volunteers with ICPAI since 2013. NewGen grils are very talented and enjoying volunteering and dancing. They value the voluntereing dacing in the community as part of their self-confidence improvement and professional development.
Tai Chi is such a Chinese culture treasure which have been drawn thousands of thousands people’s energy and passion through past to present…. Tai Chi involves gentle movement which requires deep strength and lower posture while moving. It improves circulation, balance, increases strength and flexibility. It reaches deep inside to benefit both body and mind. Time Magazine has valued it as the perfect exercise for relaxation and named it ‘Moving meditation’
Indy Tai Chi Fitness Club is a not-for-profit group operational independently under ICPAI.
The mission of the club is to promote health and wellness in the community. They also spread knowledge of Chinese culture and promote education in diversity. Members who have moved from other states have expressed their deep appreciation for a free Tai Chi club in the Indianapolis community. All members including instructors are amateurs.
Hong Du (Faith) founded this club in 2004. The club is large since then, members from metro Indianapolis area include Avon, Kokomo, Carmel, Fisher, zionsvilleã€‚The practice includes 24 forms and 48 forms, fan, Zhangzhuang and Yoga and other style like Badun Jin. The members gathering together to practice Tai Chi every Saturday, share their passions, insights and experiences....The club performs once or twice annually in some local cultural events.
The famous world Tai Chi master Sitan Chen (Tai Chi prince) and Jiamin Gao (Tai Chi Queen) have been invited to the club for workshops.
ICPAI Little Flower Dance Group was founded by Ruth Zhang in September, 2006 and currently has about 30 active members from ages of 2 to 15 years old. They are all volunteers in performing Chinese arts and spreading Chinese culture. Little Flowers dance team had been performed at many cultural related events such as Chinese New Year celebrations, Indianapolis Chinese Festival, International Festival, Conner Prairie Festival, Carmel International Festival and etc. Many young dancers have ballet and other technical training in dancing and singing. They are definitely the shining group for ICPAI, and we are very proud of their talented skills and volunteering spirits. We are also very thankful for their parents' support in supporting the Little Flower's all practice and volunteering activities.
ICPAI Drum Team 腰鼓队 was formed in May 2016 and practice weekly. Over 30 players had the first performance with the ICPAI Lion dance team at the 9th Chinese Festival on 9/24/2016. The drums, and lions and all the costumes are professionally made in China and all the perfomers are volunteers living in greater Indianapolis area. The purpose of 腰鼓队 is to add more diverse in Chinese performing arts and culture. The program are 大方阵, marching beats, and stage dancing which can be shown at festivals, parade and various celebration events.
